Hey everyone, it's very quiet on here, what's your news, what are you all up to?
Me...I'm getting that nesting in for winter feeling. Looking at my old rugs and wondering whether to replace, wanting to order in a barn full of hay and dreading the date when the clocks change. Dark evening...arrgh. But I'm enjoying my new job, flexi groom at Horseworld in Bristol. hard work but very interesting, and working with nice people.
My two neds are fine, going all fluffy already, the long range forecast is for a colder winter than the previous ones...the horses always know!!!

We are a bunch of lazy DGers!! hehehe! ;D I see you every day pratically so can you just make up stuff to entertain me.....? Not looking forward to the clocks going back either but for the first time in 6 years I won't have to trudge about in the dark!!! I can do the horses in the daylight and not have to rush back after the shop shut so in a weird way am quite excited about that! Sad but true. Looking forward to doing the rehab work at HorseWorld and got Your Horse Live too next month! Thought I might make up a Darcey clip just for fun; any suggestions? Oh weather Guru are we really going to have a wintery winter?

Yo yo, wassup.
Please only 1-2 days of snow this winter. After day 3 it had gone from entertaining to slightly amusing to a downright pita. And my snowball aim sucks.
I'm back to my full time job of being a student. And this weekend is my last in my part time job. So wooooops all round! Yak is now fully clipped, and as all my rugs are off being mended I am stuck with a thermatex and a lw turnout. Though I am itching to give over to my rug-addiction and buy another turnout, because of course she needs more rugs....
Also toying with the idea about a new saddle. Hello, student loan. How many rugs could I buy for the price of a new saddle? Hummm...

Dear Yak, I think you need therapy for your rug addiction.....grin.....mind you, if I ever need to borrow a spare I'll know where to come! NO, hang on, thinking about it, I've got a rather large heap of rugs myself chucked in the corner of the tack room, they are being a temporary sanctuary for spiders.
A new saddle is on my list too, something treeless and squishy. (hints to Father Christmas!!)
With my Weather Guru hat on......it's got a little weather vane on top, it's really cute....I can tell you that it will be a colder but drier winter this year, with a chance of snow as early as November.

I'm sitting on my hands trying NOT to rug Lui yet, to try and get him to grow a thicker winter coat. Everyone else looks like a bear - particularly Archie! I'd like a new saddle for Lui, a GP one because Tom wants to start jumping him, and I told him he REALLY doesn't want to jump in the dressage saddle! Not yet though, perhaps in the spring. Also need some tack for Toto, as I don't have ANYTHING small enough for him! I got both my saddles and Kira's bridle of eBay - brilliant place I've got a part time job too, also a grooming one, though not at Horseworld! Looking after five horses/ponies for a family, and exercising three of them. And, of course, my EP stuff keeps me busy ... and the kids ... Broadband's playing up - I'm actually sitting in McDonalds at the moment on the slowest connection I think I've ever seen. HOPING to take Riannon to the Roman Lodge Show next weekend, if it's not rained off. Having failed to get her to a show the two previous times I've tried, hopefully it'll be third time lucky! Might even bring Toto along if I'm feeling brave. Things are pretty good, really. Threatened with imminent homelessness, but I'm sure something will come along!

well im being very mean and not rugging my boy, he is growing a lovely thick coat, i normally clip but seen as we have just gone barefoot and prob not gonna be able to ride as much over the nxt 6 mths while his feet adjust i decided to let him be natural this winter!!! :-O
i have sold all his rugs apart from his lightweight so will prob need a new medium weight for when it gets real cold, thinking of getting 1 of those bucas ones that are good for temp between -15 and +15, does anyone know if they are any good?
We have just started to walk out with these pad things that i have to tape to his feet!! although his feet are good and he has not gone lame at all and can walk without the pads on all ground, my EP still says i should walk him with the pads on.
but all going well.

haha Yak! Very impressed with your rug list! My Roan would be very jealous; he loves his fashion being the gay gelding he is! ;D Lexy ~ all change for you this year then! I love the fact that you've gone for the whole holistic approach; pay off in the long run. Glad all ok so far! Even though I should be helping at Roman Lodge I would really like to take Darcey and enter her in a couple classes. Not worried about not being placed just would be a great first show for her. Will see. Hope the job is going well Sam....will buzz you to come over soon and look at Roan or just for a cuppa with Cazza & me! X

Jeepers, I remember the days of taping pads to Ebby's feet and trudging up and down lanes - we'd get about 20mins along one, and she'd break the pad and rip it off! Then I bought some boots, and the rest, as they say, is history.....

I am still transitioning Darcey but do love the process in a weird way! She is hacking out without boots but I still would use them if not too sure. Her feet were truly awful so am really pleased she is doing so well. Lily: ex racehorse TB still shows them all up though and proves that TB's can go BF! Got to decide whether to take D on the Glastonbury ride on Saturday or Trec on Sunday..... can't make up my mind!

You are lucky round here to have a lot of tarmac lanes that makes the whole process a hell of a lot easier. I had miles of stoney track to contend with, everything around here is a piece of cake for us now!
An easy weekend for us this week, might go over to the small clear round SJ on Sunday just to watch to see what we will be up against!!

We have lots of good sufaces, lanes, tracks etc to walk out on so thats quite handy.
I took my friends horse out this morning, who is a bit of a handful, she lives with my boy and as my friend is away and I cant ride cedar I thought I would ride her. Well they are inseperable so she was a nightmare on the yard while i was tacking up, but she wasnt too bad when we were out, so I have decided I am going to try and take all the contraptions off her she has got on (market harborough and bit) and try her in my bitless bridle tomorrow!!! :-0
My friend will have a fit when she gets back and sees me riding bitless and treeless!! ha ha
I like a bit of a challenge and I spose i want to prove to everyone that she will be better off with less on!!
The people on the my yard already talk about me loads and think im mad anyway so lets make them gossip a bit more lol!!
So thats what i will be doin this weekend

Hope I can still come on here now I'm not local anymore and will look in and nose about anyway! ;D Really like the website BTW!
